The year is going by wayyyy too fast.
We all say as we shake our heads... "I can't believe it's June already."
I know. It is. It is flying by. Hopefully you are collecting good memories. Important memories. Sweet memories.
One of the things that has worked for me in my attempts to slow down time is to do all I can to remain present. In this moment. One of the ways I do that is I try to not hurry time. I try to catch myself thinking and saying "I am looking forward to..." , "I can't wait for the weekend." "Hurry up and get here already, ____" . It will get here soon enough.
It's pride month. Again.
Happy pride, if you celebrate. As a rainbow family member or a friend.
If you see me around town during the festivities, please say hello!
I was in Chicago last week and had a lovely ten days of tattooing, wandering around, eating, getting tattooed, looking at art and spending some time with friends.
I did my best to not rush anywhere. I walked a lot. I took my time eating. I wandered into every tchachka store I felt like wandering into. And then spent at least an hour looking at everything inside. I walked without aim. I sat on benches and ate ice cream bars on sticks. Slowly.
It was my fourth trip. I started going because I wanted to travel by myself but to do so with purpose. If you have a chance at all to travel by yourself, I highly suggest it. The way you can get into a flow state just spending that time with yourself is very special.
BTW: If you or someone you know would like to get tattooed by me in Chicago, please message me and I will put you on my Chicago first dibs mailing list.
Found these giant dogwood flowers on a little street in Bucktown. Had to return to them to take a photo.
As usual, here are just a few of the many amazing projects I have been working on:
this one is hard to explain. tree of life... memory... continuity... honoring.
My partner is letting me freestyle all over her leg and I love it.
Finished this Poison Ivy inspired Texas natives sleeve. Happy.
Reminders about logistics:
I am charging per session rather than per hour. I find this way of doing things streamlines my systems, and it makes it so I can offer a bit more tattooing for a bit less money to the folks getting bigger ongoing projects.
I am having folks prepay their sessions. I love being able to just wrap up someone and send them on their way after tattooing them. No logistics to deal with when you are tired and hungry.
Sayler, my apprentice, is doing beautifully. If you want a little bit of Sayler magic, their current rate is $170/hr. Sayler's Portfolio.
Last May I had to switch scheduling software providers and currently I am with Acuity.

Many of you know that my partner in life and love, Liz Williams, is a Physical Therapist. I am not sure that you know that one of her deep passions and specialities is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy and that she is also certified in health coaching and sex counseling. She is a wonderful intuitive practitioner, one of the most compassionate humans I've ever met, and a whiz with the body and the psyche. If you need some extra support in these ways, she can be booked with through her website: www.lizwilliamspt.com

I wish you a wonderful summer, the space for slowness, ease in your routines, vitality, regardless of what's happening in the world. We have to find little bits of peace somewhere. Inside ourselves is best.
Hello, Reader. You know how December feels like the 4am of the year? And January is early morning, when you barely got any sleep? (and summer is clearly the afternoon and early evening of the year) no? just me? It's like synesthesia but for time... Tomorrow we enter the early morning. I have hopes for that new day. According to the Chinese calendar we are finishing a nine year cycle (that started in 2016(!!) I have hope that 2026 will start a new cycle. Regardless, whatever happens, we will...
